Well we’re not entirely sure, but here’s a sample of what we’re doing to try to create a Home for Hosting. On this site you’ll find how-to’s, stories, a build blog, and product and technique reviews on what we like, what we’d do differently, and what to avoid when building your own home.
(Oh yeah, we are still very much building this site and importing a ton of posts over from our previous home building blog which was pretty haphazard. Sorting through this bucket of screws was fun. As was trying to avoid the dirt that flew out of the drill the first few times it was used after this.

This is either the first or second attempt at a drilled well (third time was the charm). Casing snapped off at about 175′ down and this oatmeal-like grout was used to fill it back in. Had I realized what was going on, I would have

The morning we left for Africa I was able to get a load of granular A gravel for the top portion of the driveway. Knowing the next time I saw the yard in a thawed state it would be an absolute mudbath, getting at least one
